I was raised in Idaho and have family in Utah. I realize that Utah was the home of the LDS church, but not everyone who is a resident of Utah is Mormon. Truth be told, there are more Mormons per capita in Idaho than Utah!

Some Mormons are converted by a hard discovery of the facts, and being confronted with the truth. Others are converted by the establishment of a relationship, and a slow process whereby they learn that Mormonism is not true. So neither method is bad, and neither method preferable; but we must realize that using just one of the methods won’t appeal to every Mormon.

I did like the final caller last night (the LDS missionary named Dorothy). When you hear a Mormon talk, you can tell the rote nature of what they say, almost like it’s rehearsed. They will give the same answers to the same questions, no matter who you ask.

And then, when you offer them the chance to come on the show (as Stu has done before), the first thing they always cry is “contention”. My personal opinion is that is a copout for not being able to rationally defend what you believe while people question it.

Brad: Don’t they believe in what the scriptures say about…..”be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in you”.?

No, they don’t. They believe, as I’ve heard before from a Mormon I’ve bantered with on here, which last night’s caller reinforced that idea, that to come on to an obviously Christian show that is anti-Mormon would simply be nothing but contention, and they aren’t “official” spokespersons for the Mormon church, thus they can’t answer any questions officially, thus they want no part of it.

What Dorothy said last night backs that up perfectly.

AHHH!…I’v got back on atlast….I hope…..but I wonder why the heading on your note I kept getting….or whoevers it is…..is close to blaspheme??

Brad: But they can ‘officially’ teach their false doctrines to the man in the streets? Mmmmmm.
