Is this really a problem? And if it is, then how?
The teaching of tolerance or if warranted, sympathy and acceptance of people who are different[abet, non harmful] is never a bad thing.
Consider that in the not to distant past people discussed the desegregation of schools and interracial romantic relationships with similar views.

Tolerance, like fundamentalism, is a word that many people get mixed up. Fundamentalism is not a problem. It depends on the actual fundamental that one believes or is adhering to. Tolerance is certainly a good thing when it comes to people, yet quite another when it comes to behavior. Today, liberal tolerance means actually promoting and celebrating certain behaviors. or Moral Relativism.

The boy was gunned down over a stupid reason.
Are you worried that this little display of social sympathy will……open the floodgates to a wave of immorality within society/the school system?

I thought it interesting that missionamerica.com is blocked by the Guilford County School System mail and catagorized as a “Hate & Discrimination” site. Now that’s what I call tolerance and diversity (sic).

We need more of this teaching in our schools. It has been over 20 years since the American Medical Assoc. and the psychologists declared homosexuality as neither an illness nor a mental illness. People are born with different sexual orientations. They are not sinners, because God made them that way. They need more than tolerance. They need respect as God’s beloved children.

Sorry, but they ARE sinners. And so are you, and so am I. Yes you’re absolutely right, they need and deserve respect. God/Jesus is SO tolerant and loving that He emptied Himself by coming to earth, living a perfect life, suffering and dying for homosexuals, adulterers, murderers, and yes even self-righteous jerks. 🙂
