Humanism is not the way to God ?

Matthew 7:13-14 tells humanity that the way is narrow. We must drop our baggage, humble ourselves, and accept that God sent his only Son to save human beings.

God did not send his Son to save hard headed, or wimpy, people. If God accepts good human works and caring for other people as a ticket to heaven, recognizing that God is PERFECT why would he stoop to sending his Son for a few humble people and then also accept humanistically oriented people into his kingdom.

In the last days many false teachers will come. . .

I agree with you host… I think is important for him to speak out. Titus 1:10-16. Just like Paul wrote to Timothy about the mouths of deceivers must be stopped (v11) because many can be defiled (v15). I want to say more…

I heard Oprah talking about when she was younger. She was incredulous when she said something like, “I used to actually talk to God, and think I could call him daddy!” I know her Grandmother introduced her to the Gospel; it’s a shame she never accepted it. But I think she will; the seed was planted many years ago.

Oprah has buffet faith (I heard Mark Driscoll describe this in one of his sermons–I didn’t think it up myself) she has gone through all the religions in the world and taken what she likes from each one and applied to her life.

PS – Did Stu or the guest ever mention the context of Oprah’s discussion? Did she have a show on comparative religions or something?

check out McCain’s views on gays, abortion stem cell research then measure him as we measure and demonize Obama..

I think we are just as bad as Oprah if we use God’s Word for a political agenda which this guest kept hovering on.. George W has been Pres for 8 years and roe v wade is still on the books has anyone demonize him. This guy also lied to the American people causing many deaths in a far off land..his christian works delayed help to a group of people during a natural distruction is he still a christian.. Brothers/sisters lets stand firm and get off of the fence..or that soap box

As for Oprah I totally agree with your guest..I disagree when he tries to politisize it…

We need to stand on God’s Word period please pray for Oprah and your guest

As I write this “the bible answer man” is attempting to shoot down global warming with pseudo-science. The attack on Oprah by Kelly was a thinly-veiled attack on Obama. The truth – and you TRU guys are supposed to be all about truth – the truth is, you’re all republicans first and christians second. If Oprah ran on the repubilcan ticket you’d find a way to like her quick.

  8. Hilton said

BT, If that were true, that would solve a lot of problems but I’m afraid you comment about republicans is a cop-out for dealing with the actual issue. Which is “the danger of the false teaching”.

    Re: post #7

BT, that’s what I was thinking, too.

Stu is like Oprah in that they both proclaim truth loudly in order to attract customers to buy their wares.

Oprah is an “Antichrist”. 1 John 2:22 says, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist – he denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

We need to pray for this woman. There is only one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ.

Low blow, Fred. You don’t know Stu at all. If you did you’d be eating those words. You can’t compare the two. You shouldn’t speak about people you know nothing about.

  12. BT said

Thanks for the vote of support, Fred. I do like that Purple Crow, though.

Tripp, I like to listen to the Truth Talk Live radio program. On that program Stu invites us here to make comments. My comments were about what I hear on that program. Beyond that, I don’t care to know anything else about Stu.

Stu and Oprah are both entertainers with talk shows. Of course I can compare the two.

You sound like you know Stu, and were sticking up for him. Ok, point taken, I am sure that Stu is a fine fellow, etc.

He knows what he’s doing on that radio program.

  14. Most of your callers claimed to be Christians, yet they were so judgemental about Oprah. She never
stated that she didn’t believe in Jesus Christ as some suggested. She has done what the Lord wants all
of us to do: Love Thy Neighbors and help one another and she does that. The more she gives, the more
the Lord gives back to her. America is going green in terms of the environment, not to be green with
envy!! God will judge all of us, that includes so called “CHRISTIANS”.

You need to watch the youtube clip of Oprah claiming that Jesus is NOT the only way to God, that there are many ways. You can not be a Christian and not believe Jesus and what He said.

  16. Ivy said

God commands us to FIRST love Him with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind, and with all of our strength and then to love our neighbors as ourselves. (Mark 12:30)

You are right that people shouldn’t judge Oprah, because she is not a Christian – she’s not saved. She did blatantly say “What about Jesus? What does Jesus have to do with anything?” Jesus said “I am the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father expect through me.” (John 14:16)

Who will you believe and listen to, Shirley? Jesus? or Oprah?

We can judge Christians by the word of God because they are supposed to be filled with the Holy Spirit, which leads us into all truth and knowledge of the things of God (John 14 – 16). For that reason and because of that guidance, CHRISTIANS should know that they are not to esteem the things of man (or Oprah) because they (things/man/Oprah/etc) are not immune from perishing.

We don’t know if God is using Oprah’s success to test the faith of people who are called by the name of Christ. Use the scriptures to test what you see, hear, and experience of Oprah. If it doesn’t line up with what God says, then it’s not for Christians to follow. We should only be following Jesus. Period.
