    Dr. MacArthur,

Thank you for doing the will of GOD! You have been a true blessing to me :). May God continue to bless you, your family and your Ministry.

There is alot of talk in the Church (the human institution, that is) about making the Word of God “relevant” to people. Does the Holy Spirit really need our help making God’s Word relevant?

Is John MacArthur coming to North Carolina?

Both Mclaren and McArthur are doing a disservice to Christianity! They are both taking the extremes on their positions and making money off of it by writing books on it and further dividing the family of God! We need to pray for both of these men and their followers!!!

If the Holy Spirit doesn’t need help in relating the message to the World then why is McArthur writing a book on it? The Holy Spirit doesn’t need another book?

The question I have is which church are you talking about! Each church must be evaluated individually. Even inside the U.S. you have to look at it region by region. Most City churches in the US seem to becoming to much like the world but not so in rural US necessarily. Also the world loves tradition so in that sense they are becoming too much like the world also. Too much sin ….that’s too much like the world also!

One problem with The American Family of God is that we think we are the only ones that exist! Both of these men would be better off investing time sharing(relating) the gospel to people who have never heard it before than trying to sell books to american christians who aren’t going to change their philosophy of ministry anyway! They are selling these books to their Chronies!!!!!

The truth is somewhere in the middle of these two guys.
“all things are lawful but not expedient” Some people read this statement and can only see the first four words and some only see the last two.

Why did Paul persuade men in Acts…Thats the job of the Holy Spirit right? Why did God choose a man that was a Roman Citizen, Raised in a Predominantly Greek town and Born a Jew! He understood the cultures and could relate! At the same time though Paul preached in the power of the spirit and not the wisdom of man!

    Balance my brothers …..Balance
Don’t go hook line and sinker for either sides of this debate!!!!!!

Re: Is the Church becoming like the world? That’s a no-brainer. Of course it is! And no doctrine is more responsible for it than the doctrine of eternal security. More people will end up in hell because of the doctrine of eternal security than any other false doctrine in the Church today. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is simple. It takes a theologian to complicate it and use human reasoning to explain why God didn’t really mean what He says in His written Word. If you truly believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, God-breathed Word of God, then I challenge you to be like the noble Berean’s and examine the following passages that clearly refute the doctrine of eternal security. II Peter 2:20-21, I Timothy 4:1, II Peter 3:17, Exodus 32:33, Deuteronomy 29:20, Deut. 32:5, Revelation 3:5,
    I Thessalonians 3:5, I Corinthians 9:27, I Cor. 15:1-2, II Cor. 13:5, Hebrews 3:6, Heb. 3:14, Matthew 10:22, Matt. 24:10, Matt. 24:13, Colossians 1:22-23, I John 2:24,
    I Timothy 5:15, Heb. 6:4-6, II Tim. 2:12, Matt. 10:33, Matt. 12:43-45.

Everyone (including you) is certainly entitled to their opinions on this issue and Dr. MacArthur. Personally, I disagree with your opinion.

The Holy Spirit doesn’t “need” another book Himself, that is true. However, doesn’t the Holy Spirit often work through other people to relay the message? Didn’t the Holy Spirit work through Paul, Peter, John to get the point across? If so, why can’t the Spirit also work through Dr. MacArthur?

I don’t believe for a second that Dr. MacArthur is writing this book to make money, as was implied. Listen to his preaching, and you can hear that he isn’t in it for the money (i.e. in the tune of Osteen, Parsley, etc…), simply based on the message, b/c the message isn’t one that will tickle the ears of the common unbeliever (or many believers, for that matter).

You say that “both of these men would be better off investing time sharing(relating) the gospel to people who have never heard it before than trying to sell books to american christians who aren’t going to change their philosophy of ministry anyway! They are selling these books to their Chronies!!!!!” Again, you are working under the assumption that money is their goal. I don’t know nor have ever heard McLaren speak, so I can’t comment on his motivations. I will say that I completely disagree with his viewpoints on many things, and believe he takes an unBiblical stance on many issues, trying to almost “dumb down” or “water down” the gospel to make it acceptable to people. To me, that is changing the message to suit the audience, when in fact what is needed is for the audience to change to suit the message. MacArthur, on the other hand, simply does not do this. He preaches the same message, straight from the Bible, regardless of who it offends or not. His point is not necessarily to offend, but he is not afraid of doing so, for it is not HIM who would be offensive, but the message. Is the gospel not offensive to those who don’t agree with it? It absolutely is.

the eternal security doctrine is absolute truth…

for they went out from us
because they were not OF US for
IF they WERE of us they would have
    no doubt continued with us…

    so true believers will and
    also must persevere…

    read romans 9…

or what do you make of

    statements like

elect according to the foreknowledge of God…
does God choose to save someone
knowing in advance that Christ would have died in vain for that person?
now is the church becoming too much like the world…yes we are…i myself have been gulity…i have backslid before BUT GOD always shows me mercy when i confess my sins and repent…anyone here have a different experience with God?

perseverence is not by works but by grace! A tree does not bear fruit because it is trying to….it bears fruit because it is a tree!

A Child of God does not manifest the nature of God because it is trying he does so because it is in his spiritual dna…..You must be born again.
