I complete agree with today’s guest although he was a bit rough. The honest truth is that those who are being raised to live on wellfare or special racial initiatives don’t have the option to have the American dream like those who are taught to work for themelves. The spend there life waiting to be told what they get for free instead of striving for the most they can have.

I am an African American, a Christian, and a proud Democrat, and I disagree with your guest Mason Weaver. He has his facts wrong and I want to set the record straight with facts backed up by third party validators.

First, Back during the days of Lincoln it wasn’t about Republicans being against slavery and Democrats being for it. If you were a republican or democrat in the south you were for slavery, if you were a republican or democrat in the north you were against slavery. It had nothing to do with political parties; it had everything to do with geographical location.

It was President Harry Truman (Democrat) who adopted a Civil Rights platform in 1948 during the Democratic National Convention.
Harry Truman also issued the Executive Order to desegregate the Armed Forces.
President Lyndon Johnson (Democrat) signed into law the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act to ensure African Americans, women and other minorities were able to obtain the rights enjoyed by others in this country without discrimination.

It was Barry Goldwater (Republican) that campaigned against the Civil Rights Act during his 1964 failed presidential election bid.

Your guest talked about democrats supporting poverty, Well under the Clinton Administration the poverty rate declined from 15.1 percent in 1993 to 11.8 percent in 1999 – the largest six-year drop in poverty in nearly 30 years. [Census Bureau, Poverty in the United States: 1999, 9/26/00]

Under the Clinton Administration unemployment for African-Americans and Hispanics fell to the lowest level ever recorded. [Bureau of Labor Statistics]

Your guest talked about democrats supporting crime and poverty ridden areas: Violent crime rate fell 7 percent in 1999 and 27 percent since 1993. From 1993, the murder rate dropped more than 25 percent to its lowest point since 1967, and gun violence had declined by more than 35 percent. [Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1998 National Crime Victimization Survey; Federal Bureau of Investigation, Uniform Crime Reports for the United States 1998, 1999]

The American Dream became a reality for many: The homeownership rate reached 67.2 percent in the second quarter of 2000 — the highest ever recorded. Minority homeownership rates were also the highest ever recorded. [Bureau of the Census, 7/26/00]

God says: That you do to the least of them you do unto me. The republicans refuse to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.50 an hour. At the current rate when adjusted for inflation that is below the poverty line. Democrats want to raise the minimum wage to get hard working families above the poverty line so they DON’T have to rely on government assistance.

Clinton was able to balance the budget and gave us a surplus; now we have a 250 billion dollar deficit and a debt ceiling at 9 trillion dollars.

Democrats have proven their moral character by looking out for the poor as God has instructed us to do. Democrats have made decisions to help raise people out of poverty. They have been conservative with spending, they had implemented measure to preserve our environment for now and future generations, that is being good stewarts of God resources. Most of those gains have been wiped out by this republican adminstration.

Anyone can say they’re a Christian, but their actions will be their greatest witness. Anyone can pick out certain social issues that you may differ on to demonize another person. But neither the democrats nor Republicans are more Christian or less Christian than the other. No one party carries the banner of morality over the other party. From Bill Clinton’s infidelities to Congressman Foley’s indiscretions, we are all as filthy rags and fall short of God’s glory, but thank God through His grace and mercy we are saved if we believe in His Son.

    In response to Trev:
I cannot imagine any true Christian being a “proud Democrat” or proud Republican. Yes, a Christian should vote but politics is always about voting for the lesser of two evils because there is wickedness on both sides.

This single issue trumps anything else….. How can any true Christian support a party that condones the killing of over 4,000 unborn babies every single day? I have seen my three daughters in my wife’s womb (by sonogram). They were yawning, sucking their thumb, stretching and I have watched their heart beating. ABORTION STOPS A BEATING HEART! The blood of those innocent unborn babies are on anyone’s hands who vote Democrat!
